Re: RANKS AND SCORES
TWG ELO CalculatorTM is in closed beta now! You can view it by clicking here. Currently you can only view it, but if interested in playing around with it, after I explain how it works, you can PM me your Gmail address and get a free beta key!
In columns H and I you can see player names and their ELO rating that I calculated based on performance in previous games, ones listed by Shadower. Next to it is leaderboard, same thing, just arranged from highest ranked player to lowest.
Now, let's say we have played one more TWG, where Burgundy, Black Fang and Shadower have won, while Destroya, Rhaidot and Netter have lost. In column B, the winner column, you need to input current ELO of players, so next to Black Fang's name, in cell B3 we will type in 1024, in cell B5 input Burgundy's ELO, which is 1124, and in B21 we type 1025, Shadower's ELO.
Next thing is input of losing team ELO, which belongs in column C. So, Destroya's ELO is 1051 and it goes in C24, etc. In case Black Fang was on the losing team, his ELO would go in cell C3, etc.
Column E is where we will see winner's new ELO rating, while in column F we can see loser's new ELO. So, if Black Fang has won the game, we will see his new ELO in E3, if he was on the losing team it would be in F4.
This is all that you need to know about using the calculator, but for more info on how this thing works, read on!
Cells H2 and I2 take average values of numbers from columns B and C, which is used to see which team has better average ELO rating. Then those numbers are added in formulas and used to predict the odds of winning, which can be seen in cells H7 and I7. Cell H11 contains max ELO change factor, so you can't get too many points for winning, or lose too many for losing. Tweaking this number took me some time, and it is still subject to change.
In the end, numbers from columns B and C, winning odds and max change factor are used to calculate new ELO rating.
All of this might look bit complicated to some at first glance, but it really isn't, and is the simplest this can be made to work. Looking forward to feedback!
I won't be around tomorrow, until late afternoon, or maybe longer, so take your time with this.

Eh...
Personally, I don't even understand why we're trying to rank each other.
That's not what TWG is about.

Re: RANKS AND SCORES
I started it because I wanna keep a track of the most active players and as a tool to incentive the participation, too bad it didn't workHeVi Storm wrote:Eh...

Re: RANKS AND SCORES
People like ladders, you know how LoL and other games are. I personally don't really care, but maybe it can liven up this place a bit, maybe it will motivate people to play more, that's the main reason I decided to work on it.HeVi Storm wrote:Eh...
